Excerpt from Holiday Letter 2010

Dear Friends:

Hope everyone had a brilliant Christmas and Chanukah.  Not only do I hope you had a great time with family and friends, but I hope you had a chance to reflect a bit on your place in the universe, that is, who you are, how you got here, and what you are here for…there’s more to contemplate, for sure, but that’s a pretty solid starting point.

In many ways I lament for our country; there are powers at work that wish to undermine the ideals upon which our country was founded.  We are becoming an unGodly nation; many of you are already altogether and happily agnostic or atheistic and still others seek a holy God on a constant basis.  It appears that a great rift is forming, a chasm widening as the days progress.  I can not and will not tell you what to believe (who the heck am I to do so?), but those of you who know me know precisely where I stand and Who I stand for.

There are some very hard times ahead for many, many people.  I wish it were not so, but all the signs are there…financial troubles such as our world has never seen before, the rise of militant Islam, information and technology far outdistancing our wisdom to guide them, the dramatic increase in earth-oriented catastrophes, an alarming increase in microbiological danger, the spectre of governmental controls looming greater by the day (RFIDs, internet tracking, cashlessness, FEMA camps, satellite and remote recon, etc.), the inevitable dominance of the Kings of the East…and none of these even begins to incorporate the Dark elements of humankind…most of which naysayers will merely dismiss as this crackpot’s “conspiracy theories.”

I’ve been speaking of these things for years now, and when I go back to letters I sent you years ago, I stand aghast how things have panned out as suggested…now, I am no psychic and no one special in that regard, but I don’t need anyone to tell me which way the wind blows either.  Those of you who have known me since high school know that I have essentially been on this same tack for lo, these forty years.

I am carefully working out what I need to do to take care of my family should a collapse of the system actually come to pass.  Seems the prudent thing to do.  Food, water, power, health necessities, that sort of thing…I am even considering becoming a solar power generator distributor…if the grid fails, what then?
