A man wiser than I once said, “To see what is wrong and not to act is for want of courage.”
I used to be perfectly comfortable to get up on my hind legs and speak my mind, damn the torpedoes and all. But as I get older I am more cognizant of whether the battle at hand is even worth fighting or not.
Sometimes in winning a battle, you still lose. Such is called a Pyrrhic victory. And sometimes you cannot win no matter how right you are. You still lose.
No matter. I still admire those who at least have the guts to get up their nerve, firing both barrels blazing: “This is wrong. I’ll tell you why. Here’s a solution!”
In my mind, that’s still me. Just a touch wiser.
