Rest in Peace, Leon Russell

To me a mammoth talent, Leon Russell has gone to join that Great Band in the Beyond, passing in his sleep at age 74.

One of my very fondest memories, as a kid, was tossing my top hat onto the Forum stage and Leon put in on and wore it during the show…that hat is still with me as will the memory of this very fine musician.

The story going around in those days was that he went from bagging groceries to overnight sensation…but that couldn’t be farther from the truth…he was a tremendously in-demand session player who worked with all of the greats, from Sinatra to Streisand to the Beatles and so many more…
