Is The Heart of Humanity Still Beating?

Long ago I came to the conclusion that business (and much of the “system” in general) is a cold, nasty, harsh and unforgiving place, but when you get down to the humans that have to work within it, you find the heart of humanity still beating.

Case in point, AT&T, maybe my least favorite company on planet Earth, bills its customers so that bills are due on the 26th to the 28th…on purpose…they know darned well that most workaday sluggos (like myself) get paid around the first and pay bills then.

They do this to be able to be justified in sending out computerized late notices to the tune of 30% late fee.

We suckers then pay it, blaming ourselves. I called them and spoke with a charming woman who verified such practice to me (after much cajoling, mind you) and reversed same.

Crazy world we live in, huh?
