At His Mercy

My loins are agape and my chest is bared open
I am at the mercy of the ever-powerful God
I watch in wonder the events to warn me
Foretold in Scripture since eternity.

Merely a mortal, a sinner by trade
But give me wisdom over an idol of gold
The Creation abounds in beauty’s majesty
Tons more to life than what we feel and see.

Everyday’s an adventure in the spiritual life
Through detailed plans beyond knowledge and ken
The orchestra’s conductor whose endless complexity
Boggles my mind into abject humility.

I revel in trust yet endeavor to comprehend
The word, The one, The Father, The son,
Intensely involved in every moment we Be,
To grow in such wisdom, the timeless reality.
